Overview:

Responsible for providing start-up and warranty service for all CHC product lines.  Identity and/or repair replacement needs; providing necessary information on the proper uses of the equipment, and assisting in other skilled trades as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform new equipment start-ups, tuning, troubleshooting, repairing and providing technical direction for customers and maintenance.
  • Conducts pump alignment, start-up, seals, and bearings replacement.
  • Adjust combustion on boilers to meet local code requirements.
  • Check gas, exhaust, condensate, and water piping, and provide feedback to sales if necessary.
  • Set-up communications between boilers, and troubleshoot interface with Building Management Systems if provided with the boiler.
  • Add manufacturer recommended hardware components in the field when needed.
  • Perform limited control wiring –not over 120 volts.
  • Work with live panels that present arc flash hazards.
  • Performs Booster start-up including VFD set-up.
  • Download new programs in boiler controllers.
  •  Install data loggers when required.
  • Use air compressor to charge expansion tank.
  • Use power meter to measure volts and amps.
  • Keep up-to-date with steam & hot water boilers, burner systems, preferably with various manufacturers’ equipment.
  • Complete standard PMI’s for contractual customers.
  • Test and repair equipment at customer site.
  • Troubleshoot inputs –sensors- and outputs –actuators- including VFDs.
  • Perform functional confirmation, test, and repair per service or maintenance contract.
  • Provide start-up, operating, and maintenance training for the customer.
  • Stay current on IOM regularly.
  • Attend factory schools up to three times a year for training.
  • Pursue additional formal education as needed, and reimbursed (per handbook) by, CHC

Customer Service:

  • Offer telephone support for start-up and troubleshooting.
  • Present a professional, positive, and helpful attitude at all times when with customers and co-workers.  Exhibit an understanding of human relations and functions as a “team player”.
    Observe additional maintenance needs requiring attention and report those to the appropriate supervisor and a recommendation of necessary/needed replacement parts/equipment.

Administration:

  • Submit timely reports.
  • Follow workflow chart.
  • Responsible for Truck Tool Inventory.

Miscellaneous:

  • Work safely at all times.
  • Adhere to department and company policies and procedures.
  • Willing/able to work autonomously with minimum supervision while working on assignment(s).
  • Based upon business needs, you may be required to work overtime unless you already worked more than 72 hours in a workweek.  If a Service Technician cannot work overtime, he/she must leave the company truck at the shop.
  • To ensure that you have an uninterrupted rest and meal break, please turn off your company provided cell phone and make sure your voice mailbox has room to leave messages.
  • If necessary, ability to work out- of- town and stay overnight to complete work.
  • Maintain company vehicle and submit a monthly inspection report to the manager.
  • Adhere to the prevailing wage procedure.

Required and Education Experience:

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years HVAC and boiler experience.
  • Needs to have an overall knowledge of pumps technology and hydronic systems.
  • Knowledge of, and commitment to, continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks according to company goals and objectives.
  • Strong technical skills, diagnostic capabilities, and aptitude to learn new technologies and systems.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Basic or intermediate writing skills.
  • General computer experience with MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Good PC skills, with emphasis on MS and Internet products.
  • Experience in linkage-less controls is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of direct digital controls and VFD experience desirable.
  • Knowledge and commitment to, continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to type.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks according to company goals and objectives.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree from accredited school in any of the following a plus:
    • Electrical/Electronics
    • HVAC
    • Plumbing
    • Boiler
  • Five plus years’ experience w/equipment related to plumbing and/or pump, boilers from Commercial/Institutional/Industrial systems.
  • Good knowledge of electronic controls, and power wiring, as well as microprocessor systems. Limited energy low voltage license.
